Michael Cobb
J. Michael Cobb is Director of Communications and Outreach of the Religious Institute.
Previously, Mr. Cobb was with the National Black Justice Coalition, a national nonprofit advocating for African American LGBT people. He was part of the communications team, with responsibilities ranging from member services and donor relations to writing and editing the newsletter and managing online content.
Mr. Cobb has worked as a consultant specializing in communications and development. His clients have included civil rights organizations, state and local politicians and small nonprofits.
Previously, Mr. Cobb focused on helping financial businesses get their message across, ranging from the successful launch of startup companies to management of business communications for a Fortune Global 10 company. Major clients have included two financial divisions of Royal Dutch Shell, where he was responsible for all marketing communications and media relations. He was also part of the founding team at IFC Capital and served as Vice President of Marketing.
He has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Gettysburg College and is a certified lay speaker in the United Methodist Church and regularly preaches and teaches in Western Connecticut. He has been married for fifteen years, and is the proud father of two boys, ages 9 and 6.
